Day 2 Workshops

Becoming Beloved Community:  A Framework for Engaging Liberation and Transformation

Heidi Kim

Part 1

How do we begin the work of Becoming Beloved Community? This workshop will introduce TEC’s Becoming Beloved Community Long-Term Commitment to Racial Healing, Reconciliation, and Justice as a framework for ministry and engagement. Participants will be invited to share their greatest hopes for Beloved Community as a way of moving into courageous conversations about the issues of equity and justice facing our church and our world. Participants will walk through a process of using personal stories, life experiences, and professional contexts as a way of framing their ministries of liberation and transformation as unique extensions of the episcopacy.

Part 2

This workshop will build on Part 1 and lead participants through a process of reflection, discernment, and planning for action utilizing the Becoming Beloved Community framework. Participants will be asked to develop an action plan, for their continuing personal liberation and transformation, as well as the liberation and transformation of the communities in which they live and work. The tools shared in this workshop may be shared, adapted, and utilized for faith formation in participants’ local contexts
