What’s April weather like in Cincinnati?

During the latter part of April, the average high is 67 and low is 46, with overcast skies. Rain is always possible in April with a 35% average. There’s lots to see and do within walking distance so bring a compact Totes umbrella and layers so you can adjust to the range of spring weather. If you don’t want to go out, within Carew Tower there are shops and restaurants. In addition the hotel skywalk gives you access to various shops and restaurants.

When should I plan to arrive?

Tuesday, April 24, is the travel/arrival day. Registration and the hospitality suite both open at 6:00 p.m., so give yourself time to arrive and get settled, especially if you are heading to the Reds baseball game.

When should I plan to leave?

Saturday, April 28, is the travel/departure day but you may want to extend your stay and visit more of the local sights and free museums.

Should I plan an extra day or two before or after the conference?

We think so! There are so many great museums, shops, restaurants and sights that it isn’t possible to fit them all in during the conference so adding a little time before or after the conference to explore on your own or with others is definitely recommended.  Sites such as the Cincinnati Zoo, Aronoff Center for the Arts, Newport Aquarium, the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter offer so much to experience that you can easily spend a day discovering. And for those so inclined, JACK Casino Cincinnati is just minutes away.

Are things within walking distance of the hotel?

Yes! Right across the street and around the corner you’ll find Macy’s, Tiffany’s, Fountain Square, Mita’s Restaurant, and Via Vite just to name a few. And you can hop on the Bell Connector Streetcar, just 2 blocks away, to ride to many popular Cincinnati destinations.

I want to keep up on my exercise. Is there a gym at the hotel?

Absolutely! Guests at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza have access to the expansive fitness center in Carew Tower, now called Snap Fitness. It’s huge!

Any recommended restaurants?

In addition to the hotel’s 5-diamond restaurant, the Orchids at Palm Court, your Province V pals highly recommend the following:

*Montgomery Inn Boathouse – world famous ribs and a Cincinnati favorite (*optional dinner outing on April 26 – sign up during registration).
Mita’s Restaurant – wonderful Latin/Spanish cuisine.
Via Vite – excellent Italian food with a view of Fountain Square.
Bru Burger Bar – relaxed atmosphere, cuisine celebrating the Burger. The “Triple Dip” appetizer is really, really good!
Currito – Mexican food served with creativity. The house salad is great.
Taste of Belgium at The Banks – German food at its best.
Bauer Farm Kitchen – locally sourced vegetables and meats, known for German food.

This is my first conference. What should I expect? How do I connect with people?

Your BEST buddies will do all they can to make you feel welcome and like family.  Stop by the registration table (in the hotel lobby) early to get your name badge and conference materials.  This will help others identify you. Head to the Hospitality suite Tuesday evening to hang with others and talk with the board. Be sure to attend the new member orientation on Wednesday morning. Throughout the conference, you will be invited to sit with others, encouraged to ask questions, and urged to soak it all in!

Can you tell me about the Hospitality Suite?

This is a great place to connect with and get to know your BEST colleagues.  You’ll find beverages, snacks, games and puzzles, and cozy spots to sit and chat.  It opens on our travel day, Tuesday afternoon, April 24 so please stop in when you arrive!  It is closed during conference sessions so your hosts can attend the conference, too.  Hospitality hours will be listed on the conference agenda and announced daily during the conference.

What is the conference dress code?

Business casual to casual – including jeans (no holes, please). We want you to be relaxed, comfortable, and fully engaged so please dress for your personal comfort.

What is the dress code for the opening banquet?

Business formal to smart casual. It’s a swanky hotel, so feel free to bring your bling!

Can I buy my assigned service project items after I arrive?

Yes you can.  In addition to the high-end stores, within walking distance you’ll find Walgreens and CVS. Just off the north end of the Bell Connector street car loop is a Dollar Store, or you can take a short cab ride over the river to Target which is in the Newport, KY shopping area.
